Background/Expertise

Maisie joined Ford Sumner at the beginning of 2024 as a Law Clerk after completing her degrees in Law and Politics at the University of Otago in Dunedin/Ōtepoti. During her time in Dunedin, Maisie embraced the vibrant student community, balancing her academic commitments with extracurricular activities. She played social netball, gaining a love for teamwork and collaboration, volunteered as a consultant to support local initiatives, and often spent time unwinding at St Kilda beach.

Before joining Ford Sumner, Maisie gained valuable experience working as a Summer Clerk at a corporate firm in Wellington, where she developed her practical legal skills and gained insight into the dynamics of a fast-paced legal environment.

Now a member of Ford Sumner’s Employment and Litigation team, Maisie is actively involved in a wide range of dispute resolution work. Her role allows her to engage with diverse legal issues, combining her analytical skills with her passion for helping clients navigate complex challenges. She is particularly drawn to the problem-solving aspects of litigation and employment law, finding satisfaction in achieving practical, tailored outcomes for clients.

Back in her hometown of Wellington, Maisie embraces an active and well-rounded lifestyle. She enjoys regular gym sessions to stay fit and makes time to immerse herself in a new book each week.  A passionate motorsport enthusiast, Maisie never misses an F1 race weekend, where she follows the action with keen interest. For her, balancing physical activity, intellectual pursuits, and her motorsport passion makes for a fulfilling life outside of work.
