Jaesen was one of the founding Partners of Ford Sumner Lawyers in 2005.

Specialising in dispute resolution, Jaesen’s also highly skilled in commercial disputes, construction, recovery and employment law. Jaesen is a trusted advisor to clients in the aviation, construction, hospitality, education, and Government sectors.

An experienced litigator with over 27 years expertise in civil litigation, Jaesen represents clients in the District Court, High Court, and Court of Appeal. He also participates in adjudication, arbitration, mediations (as counsel or mediator on appointment) and workplace investigations (as the workplace investigator).  

Jaesen’s an active member of both the Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association NZ Inc, Resolution Institute, Institute of Public Professionals Aotearoa NZ (Hāpai Public) and the Society of Construction Law NZ. Since 2015 Jaesen has authored Lexis Nexis Practical Guidance – District Court Civil Litigation, a day-by-day guide for legal practitioners which he updates annually to ensure it is kept current. 

An avid sports fan, Jaesen is a former long-term Chair and supporter of Old Boys’ University RFC in Wellington, the Hurricanes and Pulse, while he regularly competes in Ocean Swim events around New Zealand and is getting closer to his 3k swim goal time.
